Amid this outbreak of hate, #StopAsianHate emerged as a social movement in the West calling for solidarity against discrimination. At NEUT Magazine, we’d like to bring our readers’ attention not only to acts of racism against Asian people abroad, but also to the discrimination that Asian people face within Japan. In this special issue Yellow Light, we’ve set out to interview Japan-based creatives with roots in other Asian countries to draw attention to their experiences of discrimination within Japan as well as artists of Japanese descent who are active outside of Japan such as Rina Sawayama and Sen Morimoto.
